Hi all,
I have my first post treatment PET scan tomorrow. I am anxious (justifiable, I think) and hope I manage to get a good night’s sleep tonight. If you could, please keep me in your thoughts tomorrow with prayers for NED.
On another happy note (and another sign of feeling well), I went skiing again yesterday (only my 2nd ski day of the season), but it felt great! I was a layer short however. The 4 I had on weren’t good enough for the 17 degree air temp at our mountain. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve had decreased tolerance for cold, but I notice it distinctly this winter. Could this be a weird side effect of treatment? Anyone else have this happen?
I also cut my long hair this week to a short, layered bob. My hair was just so thin, the long hair just hung there and I thought it made my face look drawn and skinny. This is much better. I actually always wore it short until 2 years ago when I started growing it long. Oh well. Now its short again. I’ll post a pic at some point.
I hope this finds everyone well. I think of you all often and keep you in my prayers for your wellness and strength.
Thank you for checking in on me.
Ruth

I will be thinking about you and your PET scan. I sure it will be good and you will be ned. You are doing amazingly well in my estimation! Take care-Linda
Hi Ruth,
I will definately say a few extra prayers for you to have NED. Good positive vibes coming your way. Let us know.
Nancy
Ruth,
I’ll be praying for good results on your PET scan! I know what you mean about the cold. I used to love winter and cold weather but this year it is so much harder to me to get warm on cold days. My doctor say’s the treatments are the cause and I am also still slightly anemic. Good luck to you tomorrow keep us posted. Sending a great big cyber hug your way!
Love and Prayers,
Eva
Ruth,
Go for it … NED in the PET (doesn’t rhyme).
Best,
Andrea
Girl, I am freezing all the time! Of course before, I had 60 pds of fat to keep me warm. I usually was the type who was always too hot. Well, good thing I am now in Arizona! Best wishes on the PET scan – you’ll do fine!
Hugs
Anna
Hi Ruth- I always do that..sign in and then forget to post the comment…Anyway, I think you will feel better when you get the PET done and I am very hopeful and sure it will be fine- This treatment is really powerful. About the cold…I feel cold, any type of pain like a scratch or anything that is actually on my skin much more then I did before!1 I also notice my “startle” reflec is very short..in other words I startle very easily to any loud sound. My opinon is that when you go through chemo everything gets “reset” and your tolerance goes back to ZERO…I actually asked my onco doc about this and he said there is some truth to this….Oh yes one more thing my eyes for close up vision became worse ..
Anyway. check back in with us- My next PET is this coming Thurs…I am 16 months out and this is my thirs one…They are not doing them every 3 mos with me ..They did the first one 4 months post and then about 8 months later and now this one…I do not like the radiation exposure….Of course your choices are sort of limited! But after this one I will probably get one in one year. Blessings! Lori
Hey Ruth, you’re doing so great getting out on the slopes. Radiation treatement definately makes your body cold… that is one of the side effects….bundle up and keep eating warm foods an spices! I’ll be holding you in my thoughts tonight and throughout your pet tomorrow.
best, Nova

Hi Ruth—
I just know your PET is going to come back all clear. You have done such a great job in taking care of yourself and now you’re skiing! I’m so impressed with your energy and determination. Cancer has no chance with you! Please let us know when you get your results—they’ll be great! I will be thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers.
Hugs—
Martha
Ruth,
I just read your blog. I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I just finished my treatment a week ago. I am the same stage as you and I also have it in my lymph nodes in the groin area. The worst part of the treatment for me is dealing with the swelling and blisters in the groin area from the radiation. Each day it seems to get a little better. I’m glad I found this blog so that I can communicate with people who know what I am going through. I feel fortunate that I have a loving family and wonderful friends to help me get through this but I think communicating with people who are going through the same thing as I am going through will help me more in the long run. I’m sending you positive vibes and good wishes for a complete recovery.
hi, ruth. i can only imagine that your new hairdo looks fabulous. you sound like you are doing well and i have no doubt that you will be ned after the pet. i will be thinking of you and praying for you. God bless… debby
